What makes Christmas, Christmas?

The cold breeze and the twinkling bright lights, these are the signs that the Christmas season has officially begun. Christmas season is the season for joy, love, and the season for giving.

Every 25th of December, people around the globe celebrate Christmas or the birth of Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ was born, there were three wise men or three wise kings who followed a star that lead them to baby Jesus, upon reaching his manger, the three wise men bestowed a gift for baby Jesus, they were considered wise because the gifts that they bestowed has symbolism upon it. This marks the start of Christmas as the season for giving.

Christmas, every year, we also follow suit on giving gifts to families and friends, they say it's better to give than to receive, and that saying applies to me. Every Christmas season, in my hometown, San Juan, we make a coconut milk-laced rice cake that is placed on a bamboo tube, or as we call it-tinubong. And every Christmas day, we distribute it to families and friends. Meanwhile, in San Vicente, we always hold an annual Christmas Party where laughter and joy fills the air.

Christmas is the season for spending time with your family, attending Simbang Gabi and gathering for Noche Buena. The carolers singing, gift giving, the cold breeze, the bright lights and love and happiness in the air, enveloping us with a warm embrace, these elements makes Christmas, Christmas.
