Viva Vigan!: Showcasing Culture and History

Gem of the North Centuries Old Cities

Seed of our Nation's History

Cradle of our Nation's Greatest Heroes

All Hail, Vigan City!

The Spanish conquistador, Juan de Salcedo, was then sent to the north of the country, where Manila is located, to establish an overseas colony, which resulted in the creation of the city of Villa Fernandina, now known as Vigan.

Vigan City, founded in the 16th century, with its vast cobblestone ways and well-preserved spanish houses, is a home to rich cultures with the deepest histories. Its architecture shows the fusion of cultural aspects from other parts of the Philippines, China, and Europe, resulting in a culture and townscape unparalleled in East and South-East Asia.

Every third week of January, Fiesta in Vigan City is commemorated. Fiestas is to commemorate the town's patron saint, in this case, Vigan's Patron Saint is St. Paul the Apostle. Within every core of culture and tradition, fiestas are well enjoyed by Filipinos. During my stay, alot of exciting and fun activities and shows had I encountered.

With their mothers in the side either taking videos and pictures or just enjoying seeing their child perform.
